Identity Designer

Design identity for systems people can feel.

At a small studio, we believe identity is deeper than aesthetics. It is the underlying clarity that helps a brand know who it is, how it behaves, and what deserves to exist in the first place. The visual work matters deeply to us, but only when it comes from something true.

We are looking for a Contract Identity Designer to join our team. Someone thoughtful, curious, and deeply attentive to detail. Someone who cares about coherence just as much as craft, and understands that good design is not about adding more, but distilling things until they feel inevitable.

In this role, you will help develop identity systems for brands across a wide range of industries and stages, then carry those systems across the places a brand actually lives: websites, campaigns, digital products, presentations, social content, environments, and beyond.

You will collaborate closely with our Creative Directors and the wider studio team, contributing not only to client work, but to the evolution of our own ideas, systems, and internal culture.

This is a 3 month contract role with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position.

About Us

a small studio is where identity meets design.

We work with founders, teams, and organizations to uncover the clearest expression of who they are and carry that identity consistently across everything they create. Our work spans identity architecture, visual identity, digital experiences, communication systems, and creative direction.

We often say, “Everything starts small.”

Because starting small means reducing noise until the important thing becomes impossible to miss. We believe extraordinary work comes from clarity, focus, and care. Not excess!

Over the years, we’ve partnered with more than 40 brands worldwide, ranging from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 companies. Regardless of scale, our approach stays the same: thoughtful collaboration, honest conversation, and work that feels deeply considered.

What it's like at a small studio

  • Real Collaboration. We work closely with clients and with each other. You will not disappear into a production pipeline. Conversation is a core part of how we work.

  • Creative Rituals. We have weekly Connect sessions and daily Office Hours where we share work, exchange ideas, and remain connected as a team.

  • Remote & Flexible. We are fully remote with flexible working hours outside of client meetings and studio rituals. We trust people to manage their time well.

  • Room to Grow. We believe good people grow through responsibility, trust, and proximity to meaningful work. There is a clear path for growth within the studio.

  • Equipment Stipend. We provide an annual equipment stipend to support your workspace and tools.

  • Actual Rest. We encourage people to use their time off properly, including a yearly two-week studio closure at the end of December.

Contractor Compensation

  • Hourly expectation: 20-40 hours per week

  • Compensation: $60-70K annually

We care deeply about thoughtful work, and we believe thoughtful work deserves thoughtful compensation. Rates will be discussed based on experience, level of craft, and the depth of thinking you bring to the role.

This is a contractor position to start, but we are genuinely interested in building long-term relationships with people who feel aligned with how we think, work, and care.
